The Hockey Pro Training Podcast

Feb 16, 2018

In this episode of the podcast I sit down with my buddy and professional hockey player Jake Newton. I had Jake on the podcast back on episode two and near the end of the first show we started really getting into the mindset required to become a professional hockey player, and an overall well rounded and happy person. I found this topic to be a very interesting one and I know many others do as well. So I decided it would be a good idea to get him back on the show, dive a little deeper and share with you guys a few ways you can start changing the way you think, for the better.

Jake credits a lot of his success this season to the work that he’s put in not in the gym or on the ice, but the work that he has put into himself and the way that he thinks about and see’s the game. As he mentions during the podcast, at some levels every hockey player is very close when we talk about the physical aspect of the game, but what sets players apart is the mental aspect and the players ability to show up and perform day after day no matter what. And I couldn’t agree more. We all go through struggles in life and having the tools to be able to deal with those struggles is going to be crucial in determining how far and how well your career is going to go.

I hope you guys enjoyed this episode of the podcast, I know I really enjoyed sitting down and having this conversation with Jake and I look forward to many more to come.

Until the next one.

Happy training,

Coach Matt
